I heard that Japanese people like Ripple (XRP) more than other countries.
However, I am not that attracted to Ripple.
The reasons are
The only way to earn money is by increasing the price of the currency itself.
It can only be used as a bridge currency.
These are the two reasons.
First of all, the only way to earn XRP profits is by increasing the price of the currency, except for the "virtual currency rental" offered by exchanges.
Currently, there are more and more currencies that can be profited from in various ways, such as staking.
There are also ways to increase the value of current legal tender by simply holding it as an investment or deposit. However, this is not possible with Ripple.
The only way to increase the currency is to apply for a "virtual currency loan", which is a service of the exchange, not the currency itself.
And above all, Ripple, the issuer, owns most of the XRP.
Even though many of them are locked up and cannot be moved, the price of XRP can still be controlled depending on the situation of the issuer.
Other virtual currencies also have "whale" holders who are large enough to influence the price, but they are not the "issuer," so it is very different.
Another thing is that this currency can only be used as a bridge currency to legal tender.
A bridge currency is a service that bridges currencies to facilitate international remittances.
That's all Ripple does, right? It sounds good to say that it is specialized, but in a sense, it is dependent on the shortcomings of legal tender.
In a sense, it is dependent on the shortcomings of legal tender, and if a better service or method emerges in the future, it will lose its value. This is quite risky, isn't it?
Let me give you an example.
Let's say that Bitcoin or Ethereum, the most popular virtual currencies, are upgraded and become easier to use and more trusted, and are used for business transactions. If that happens, there will be no reason for Ripple to be in the middle.
(But if that were to happen, not only Ripple, but many other virtual currencies would have no reason to exist...)
The speed of currency transfer is also said to be attractive, but there are other currencies with faster transfer speeds.
In this respect, as a general virtual currency enthusiast, I can't trust it, and I don't have much fun with it because I can only observe the price rise and fall in yen.
That's why I've decided not to invest in Ripple (XRP).
